The recipes listed here were generated from direct experience with MVL 2.1. Most of the information presented here should be applicable to later versions as well.
In my experience as a Monta Vista Software Field Application Engineer (Oct.2000 to May.2002), most of the problems encountered while using the product fall into the following broad categories:
| Broad Categories | Description |
| Target Configuration Tool | Even though this tool has some serious shortcomings, it can be used very effectively to deploy a MontaVistaLinux target filesystem. |
| Kernel Configuration | Explore how to configure your kernel for optimal use in the development lab and final deployment. |
| Host Issues | The MontaVistaLinux documentation is first-rate, but sometimes it falls short, especially if you use a host that isn't officially supported. |
| Target Issues | Should it work, but it doesn't, also known as the Murphy Syndrome. |
